Tuesday July 23 Switzerland

World travellers on the move. Here we are at the Geneva, Switzerland airport. Tom is pointing at Switzerland on the globe.

In front of our hotel in Geneva. Our rental car for 8 days. Yes Michael will be our driver. Looking forward to the adventure.

Here is the geyser in Geneva that Alicia told us about. Very impressive ....... with a park and marina next to it. Thanks Alicia for mentioning it.

This is some of the scenery we saw on our drive, heading to meet Fanny's family, the people Alicia stayed with for her Switzerland exchange. There are many vineyards and fruit trees. Apricots are abundant.

For you bathroom connoisseurs, this is a toilet at a rest stop. I had a difficult time figuring out how to flush it.

Did I mention that we were meeting Fanny's family a her grandparent's chalet in the mountains at Ovronnaz? Well I just realized I didn't take any pictures going up the mountain. Maybe it's because I was too busy watching the incredible road signs ....... some signs I had never seen before. Sometimes it looked like the front end of the car was going to meet the back. There were a couple of turns that I referred to as "tilt-a-whirl" turns. I looked at the map on Michael's GPS and it looked like spaghetti! But Michael is a great driver and we made it to our destination.

This is the view from the balcony of the chalet and this picture does not do it justice. It was breath-taking and as Tom said "postcard perfect"

This is Fanny's family. {Fanny is first on the left} We had snacks when we arrived and some cheese that was scrumptious and also some local white wine. So pleasant and we had fun communicating, they with their limited English and we with our limited French. Fanny was our go between when we needed help. Her family was so welcoming ...... very nice people. Corinne, the mom, presented us each with a gift from the area. So sweet. It was like Christmas as Sandy had also brought gifts for them. Fanny was especially excited to receive the year book from Amherst, which she attended during her stay with Alicia.

Later we went inside for a traditional Swiss lunch ...... slices of different kinds of meats, various cheeses, breads, and an apricot dessert. Delicious! Oh, and there was red wine also.

This is the back of the chalet.

After lunch  we went with the family further up the mountain to a spa resort so we could see the view from there. This is one of the views.

Here is Julie, Fanny, Sandy, Corinne, Michael and Jeff.

Michael took this panoramic shot. Too beautiful for words!
After saying our goodbyes after a wonderful afternoon, we headed  for Tasch, our next stop.

The drive to Tasch was beautiful ... I felt like a "bobble head" swinging side to side trying not to miss a thing.

Our hotel in Tasch. Don't you love the flowered window boxes? We saw so many houses & hotels like this ...... with lots of window boxes full of colourful flowers.

We went to dinner in the town of Tasch and had a very tasty meal. The wine glasses were marked with a line to show exactly how much wine to pour in ..... not too much and not too little.

Goodnight
